The project Remember Nansen was funded with the support of the European Unionmunder the Programme “Europe for Citizens”
The activities involved several participants from all the partners’ of the consortium of partners in the project. Therefore, there have been a significant number of staff working in the preparatory activities in a wide range. The activities consisted of preparing the events, implementation and dissemination of results. These preparatory activities started with our project Remember Nansen, and finished with the last episode of our journey through the diffusion of Nansen’s work. Consequently, from 01/01/2021 till 30/06/2022, the effort of the staff preparing the events and activities has been crucial for the right implementation of such a passionate project remembering Nansen.
We would like to thank the more than 20 people involved in preparing the photograph exhibitions, the teaching in High Schools, the final conference, the Nansen trip, the street theatre, the social media of the project and the dissemination activities.
The venue of the preparatory activities was Tallinn, Estonia. Nevertheless, several meetings online also contribute to the design and development of the project by all the partners.
Events:
The project Remember Nansen, thanks to the efforts of the staff involved, the interest of the participants and the support and funding of the European Union via the program EUROPE FOR CITIZENS, have successfully implemented the following events within this project:
Event 1. Photograph exhibition on Repatriation of war prisoner 1919-1922
Participation: The event involved around 2000 citizens, including the participants from the cities of Tallinn (Estonia), Riga (Latvia), Olomuc (Czech Republic), Bologna (Italy), Salamanca, Valladolid and Vigo (Spain).
Location / Dates: The event took place in all the cities mentioned before in the premises of the members of the consortium and some other additional locations in the same cities to increase the impact of the project among youngster and members of the civil society. Therefore, the first photograph exhibition was simultaneously implemented in Tallinn, Riga Olomouc, Bologna, Salamanca, Valladolid and Vigo from 03/03/2021 to 24/03/2021
Short description: The aim of the event was to promote the work of Nansen in a period of arduous struggles for peaceful coexistence in east Europe when the Russian Civil War affected the whole area. Forgotten war prisoners from the WWI were repatriated thanks to a common effort led by Nansen with the result of 427,886 prisoners relocated to around 30 different countries.

Event 2. Photograph exhibition on Nansen involvement as the League’s of Nations
High Commissioner for Refugees
Participation: The event involved around 2000 citizens, including the participants from the cities of Tallinn (Estonia), Riga (Latvia), Olomuc (Czech Republic), Bologna (Italy), Salamanca, Valladolid and Vigo (Spain).
Location / Dates: The event took place in all the cities mentioned before in the premises of the members of the consortium and some other additional locations in the same cities to increase the impact of the project among youngster and members of the civil society. Therefore, the second photograph exhibition was simultaneously implemented in Tallinn, Riga Olomouc, Bologna, Salamanca, Valladolid and Vigo from 03/04/2021 to 24/04/2021
Short description: The aim of the event was to promote the work of Nansen dealing with Russian refugees flying from the civil war between Red and White forces at the beginning tof the XX century, specially regarding the resettlement of around two million Russian refugees displaced by the upheavals of the Russian Revolution..

Event 3. Photograph exhibition on Humanitarian aid link with the famine in Russia,
Participation: The event involved around 2000 citizens, including the participants from the cities of Tallinn (Estonia), Riga (Latvia), Olomuc (Czech Republic), Bologna (Italy), Salamanca, Valladolid and Vigo (Spain).
Location / Dates: The event took place in all the cities mentioned before in the premises of the members of the consortium and some other additional locations in the same cities to increase the impact of the project among youngster and members of the civil society. Therefore, the first photograph exhibition was simultaneously implemented in Tallinn, Riga Olomouc, Bologna, Salamanca, Valladolid and Vigo from 03/04/2021 to 24/04/2021
Short description: The aim of the event was to promote the work of Nansen during the famine in Russia at the beginning of XX century as coordinator of humanitarian relief. His work saved millions of lives, even though the Soviet Authorities limited its impact.

Event 4. NANSEN PROJECT TRIP
Participation: The event involved around 8 participants from different countries of within the European Union. The participants were selected from more than 400 active candidates who had to demonstrate their interest in the trip actively. The Nansen trip started in Tallinn, went trough Finland, Norway and back to Tallinn. Therefore, the event included more than 400 active participants.
Location / Dates: The event took place in all the countries mentioned following the steps of Nansen and his legacy. For example, Vardo was crucial in this trip, as it was the place where Nansen returned from his famous Fram Expedition. Nansen trip started in 16th august 2021 and ended on 30th of the same month.
Short description: The aim of the event was to promote the project Remember Nansen with an award worthy the motivation to actively spread the information about the project by active participants. The more than 400 participants had to share and like the Facebook page of the project in order to qualify to be selected for the trip. Afterwards, a lottery was made among those active in the dissemination of the project. In addition, the 8 participants in the trip posted a diary on the project Facebook page spreading the impact of the trip and the work of Nansen. Finally, they also took part on other public events sharing their experience on Remember Nansen project trip.

Event 5. Trip to the European Youth Event in Strasbourg 2021,
Participation: The event involved 3 direct participants from different countries of within the European Union. The participants were selected from more than 300 active candidates who had to demonstrate their interest in the trip actively. Therefore, the event included more than 300 active participants.
Location / Dates: The event took place in Strasbourg on 7th-13th October 2021.
Short description: The aim of the event was to promote the project Remember Nansen within a large European Event, the EYE 2021 promoted by the European Parliament.
In addition, Remember Nansen used the participation in the EYE2021 as an award worthy the motivation to actively spread the information about the project by active participants. The more than 300 participants had to share and like the Facebook page of the project in order to qualify to be selected for the trip. Afterwards, a lottery was made among those active in the dissemination of the project. In addition, the 3 direct participants in the trip promoted the work of Remember Nansen among the thousands of direct participants in the EYE2021 event in Strasbourg.

Event 6. Spreading Nansen’s legacy among youngsters
Participation: The event involved around 350 younger citizens, including the participants from the cities of Tallinn (Estonia), Riga (Latvia), Olomuc (Czech Republic), Bologna (Italy), Salamanca, Valladolid and Vigo (Spain).
Location / Dates: The event took place in all the cities mentioned before in the premises of the High Schools previously selected, and some other additional locations in the same cities, to increase the impact of the project among youngster and members of the civil society. This event was simultaneously implemented in Tallinn, Riga Olomouc, Bologna, Salamanca, Valladolid and Vigo from 10/01/2022 to 30/04/2022
Short description: The aim of the event was to promote the work of Nansen and his importance creating the European solidarity concept by actions. Therefore, the project Remember Nansen implemented evets in High Schools in order to reach those youngsters who represent the future of Europe.

Event 7. Street theatre.
Participation: The event involved around 5000 citizens, including the participants from the cities of Tallinn (Estonia), Riga (Latvia), Olomuc (Czech Republic), Bologna (Italy), Salamanca, Valladolid and Vigo (Spain). It was an event started in Tallinn where the performances on Nansen’s work were public on the streets. Therefore, the high number of spectators is consequence of it.
Location / Dates: The event took place in Tallinn on 31/03/2022
Short description: The aim of the event was to promote the work of Nansen by surprising the passersby with short performances regarding Nansen, the project Remember Nansen and the support of the European Union.

Event 8. Final conference,
Participation: The event involved around 380 citizens, including the participants from all over Europe, as it was physical and online event. .
Location / Dates: The event took place in Tallinn, in the remises of Tallinn University of Technology, and was streamed all over Europe. In addition, the video of the conference was uploaded in the Facebook page of the project. The final conference took place on 10th of March 2022.
Short description: The aim of the event was to promote the work of Nansen via experts dissemination. We counted with our project coordinator, an expert from the Netherlands, an Italian speaker and the wise and interesting words of the Norwegian Ambassador.
